THE MR. DICK VAN DYKE SERIE

NL  Een mooi voorbeeld van de mogelijkheden en kansen die sociale media bieden is wel de start van deze serie schilderijen. Zoekende naar een “Nostalgic Mood” stuitte ik op de serie “The Dick Van Dyke Show”. Net als de “Alfred Hitchcock Presents” is dit bijzonder aantrekkelijk materiaal voor een mooie compositie. Hoewel ik niet nadrukkelijk een bekend persoon wilde schilderen, beroemde personen ligt altijd gevoelig, heb ik via twitter contact gezocht om te kijken of ik wellicht officieel toestemming zou kunnen krijgen en het werk “Next, Mr Van Dyke!” aangeboden kan worden. Al vrij snel kreeg ik, tot mijn verbazing, een enthousiaste reactie van Mrs Arlene Silver Van Dyke hierop en met de vraag of ik misschien mee wil doen met een Art show in Malibu die zij zou organiseren, dit ter gelegenheid van zijn 90ste verjaardag in december. Wie had dat kunnen denken dat er contact en medewerking kon ontstaan met een Hollywood legende. En ook nog uit de periode die mij zo inspireerd. In december komt er nog een show wanneer zijn 90ste verjaardag gevierd zal worden in Disneyland USA. ENG  A good example of the possibilities and opportunities of social media is the start of this serie of paintings. Searching for a “Nostalgic Mood” I came across the tv serie “The Dick Van Dyke Show”. Like the old black and white FilmNoirs and “Alfred Hitchcock Presents” is this also particularly attractive material for a beautiful composition to start with. Although I do not wanted emphatically a famous person to paint, painting famous people is allways something to be carefull at, I contacted Mr Van Dyke through twitter to see if maybe I could get official permission and offering the work “Next, Mr. Van Dyke!”. Pretty soon I’ve got, to my surprise, an enthusiastic reaction from Mrs. Arlene Silver Van Dyke and if I might want to get involved with an art show in Malibu she would organize, at the occasion of his 90th birthday in December. Who would have thought that there could arise contact and collaboration with a Hollywood legend. And also from the classic Hollywood period so inspiring to me. In December there will be another show when his 90th birthday will be celebrated at Disneyland USA. (#DVDturns90). A very special thanks to Mrs. Arlene Silver Van Dyke who made this possible.
